Eastern Curlews- Roebuck Bay

Image Code: Eastern Curlews- Roebuck Bay MRW8495

Numenius madagascariensis  Eastern curlew spends its breeding season in northeastern Asia. Its breeding habitat is composed of marshy and swampy wetlands and lakeshores. Most individuals winter in coastal Auastralia with a few heading to South Korea, the Philipines, Thailand and New Zealand where they stay at estuaries beaches, and salt marshes.  Due to diminishing feeding habitat and consequently numbers the Eastern Curlew is listed as Vulnerable in the 2010 IUCN red list of threatened species.
