Ninox rufa The Rufous Owl has a wide range of habitats including Australia, Indonesia and New Guinea. In Australia, it is found in Arnhem Land, the northern Kimberlies, the eastern Cape York Peninsular, and the Mackay District of easter Queensland. It is the only exclusively tropical owl in Australia. This bird was photographed at its daytime roost in the CBD of Cairns, NQ.
