Erythropitta macklotii  Typically observed hopping around on the wet rainforest floor, although it does call from perches high in the canopy too. This species is a wet season (Dec-April) breeding migrant to northern Cape York (Australia), and winters in southern New Guinea. Call includes a 2–3 long rough double-whistle which rises slightly in pitch. Formerly considered part of the Red-bellied Pitta, which was split into 16 species.
