Geophaps smithii blauwii The partridge pigeon inhabits the tropical and subtropical dry grassland and shrubland. It forages entirely on the ground, and, except when flushed in alarm, rarely flies. The subspecies occurring in the Northern Territory G. smithii smithii differs from the other subspecies G. s. blauwii (of the Kimberley) The colour of the bare skin around the face in the west (the Kimberley) is yellow, in the east, (NT) is red. It is classified as Vulnerable due to habitat loss.
